Cracticus quoyi
On investigating a strong and melodious but unusual bird call I found this chap and his friends in a nearby tree at Buffalo Creek boat ramp.
It was so much larger than I'm used to a butcherbird being that it wasn't until after I'd taken the photos that I realised that it was indeed a black butcherbird and that it's call did loosely resemble that of its 'pied' and 'grey' cousins.
